imagesGoogle Docs is a freeware web-based office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. It also was a storage service but has since been replaced by Google Drive. Wikipedia

I know many organization who host a seminar/workshops provide Registration Form for their participants to download and submit through email after completing the registration form. There are many online tools out there that provide free with limited number of forms, and so on.

This time I want to introduce Google Docs which is free and no hidden cost. It will combine Google Doc-Form and Google Doc-Spreadsheet. The Google Form will take care of the form interface for users and Google Spreadsheet will take care the results/entries when users submit their forms in Excel Format.

Interesting hah?

clip_image002

2. After signed in, we are going to create New Form for our Online Registration purpose. Click Create >> Form

clip_image004

3. A new windows will open, showing you how the form will works. Create, Share, Send and Analyze. Click on Get Started.

clip_image014

8. It will ask the destination of the Form Result, so I will automatically record an entry when users submit the form. Just click create, it will create New spreadsheet YourFormTitle (Responses)

clip_image016

9. Congratulation. Your form is ready for use.

To test this form, please click here. Complete the Form and click Submit

Setup Email in Opera Browser

imageI just tried Opera browser’s built-in Mail client, if you like to find alternative client like MS Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, and other Email Client application, you should try Opera.

download Opera browser here

Here's how I configure my email.

image

image

You can put your Gmail.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)

IMAP is not an email program in itself. Just like POP, it is a protocol
by which you can read email. IMAP allows you to view your email from
more than one place. E.g. from your desktop computer at work and from your laptop at home and from abroad and from your mobile device - multiple locations.

To
use IMAP effectively, you need to make sure that each program on each
computer that you use to view your email is set up to use IMAP.

POP (Post Office Protocol)

POP
is suitable if you have no need to check your email in multiple
locations. If you only ever check your email on your computer at work,
for example, then POP is fine for this purpose, because it downloads all
of your emails to the computer.

For Gmail users:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL

imap.gmail.com

Port: 993

Requires SSL:Yes

Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
Server - Requires TLS

smtp.gmail.com

Port: 465 or 587

Requires SSL: Yes

image

With Opera, I can surf the web and monitor my incoming mail at left sidebar, opening inbox will automatically opens a new tab.
